Copy Modes

AllSync offers you 6 copy modes that can be adapted as needed via various copy options.
1:1 copy
This copy mode causes an exact copy of the contents of the source folder to be created in the destination folder.
  • All source files with a MODIFIED DATE differing from that of the file of the same name in the destination folder are copied.
  • All source files with a FILE SIZE differing from that of the file of the same name in the destination folder are copied.
  • All files and folders are copied from the SOURCE folder to the DESTINATION folder if they are not present there.
  • All files and folders at the destination are deleted if they are not present at the source.
  • No folders or files are created, deleted or overwritten at the source.
Update
This copy mode causes only new and modified items to be copied from the source folder to the destination folder.
  • All source files with a MODIFIED DATE differing from that of the file of the same name in the destination folder are copied.
  • All source files with a FILE SIZE differing from that of the file of the same name in the destination folder are copied.
  • All files and folders are copied from the SOURCE folder to the DESTINATION folder if they are not present there.
  • No folders or files are deleted in the destination folder.
  • No folders or files are created, deleted or overwritten at the source.
User-defined
This copy mode enables folders and files to be copied or moved from the source folder to the destination folder.
  • In contrast to 1:1 copy mode, the copy rules can be individually specified.
  • Source files can be compressed into a ZIP file at the destination.
  • Source files can be moved to the destination folder.
  • No folders or files can be created or overwritten in the source folder.
Sync
This copy mode causes the contents of the source and destination folders to be synched so that the same items are contained in both.
  • All SOURCE folder items with a modified date that is more current than that of the file of the same name in the DESTINATION folder are copied.
  • All DESTINATION folder items with a modified date that is more current than that of the file of the same name in the SOURCE folder are copied.
  • All files and folders are copied from the SOURCE folder to the DESTINATION folder if they are not present there.
  • All files and folders are copied from the DESTINATION folder to the SOURCE folder if they are not present there.
  • All files and folders at the SOURCE can be deleted if they have been deleted at the DESTINATION since the last copy operation. See Structure Conflict option.
  • All files and folders at the DESTINATION can be deleted if they have been deleted at the SOURCE since the last copy operation. See Structure Conflict option.
  • You have the option of various actions when the same file at the source and destination has been changed since the last copy operation. See the File Conflict option.
  • All files and folders at the destination can be deleted if they are not present at the source. See Master option.
  • All files and folders at the source can be deleted if they are not present at the destination. See Master option.
Populate
This copy mode causes the contents between the source and destination folder to be synched for non-existent files.
  • All files and folders are copied from the SOURCE folder to the DESTINATION folder if they are not present there.
  • All files and folders are copied from the DESTINATION folder to the SOURCE folder if they are not present there.
  • No folders or files are deleted or overwritten in the source or destination folders.
Backup
This copy mode causes the contents of the source folder to be copied to a backup folder in the destination folder.
  • Backup (copy rules) can be individually specified as needed.
  • Backup can be made to a new backup folder during every copy operation.
  • The items of the destination folder can be backed up into a ZIP file.
  • The maximum number of backups can be specified.

Copying Direction

The picture shows the direction(s) in which the items are copied for the selected copy mode.
